WNBA Golden State President Jess Smith Joins Bay Area Host Committee Board of Directors, Strengthening Committee’s Mission to Unite the Region Through Sport

Santa Clara, Calif. (March 12, 2024) – The Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) announced today the appointment of Jess Smith, President of WNBA Golden State, to its Board of Directors. Smith’s appointment strengthens the BAHC’s mission to unite the Bay Area through sport by building pride, connecting communities and reenergizing the region.

Smith, who has over 18 years of experience in professional sports, joined Golden State in February from Angel City Football Club, where she served as Head of Revenue from 2020-24. In that role, she oversaw partnerships, ticketing, commerce, operations, data and analytics, broadcast and strategic alliances. With a passion for creating revenue streams with intent, Smith revolutionized the sports industry partnership approach with Angel City’s model, where 10% of sponsorship revenues are invested in local community initiatives focusing on equity, essentials, and education.

“Joining the Bay Area Host Committee Board of Directors is an incredible opportunity to further contribute to the vibrant sports culture in the Bay Area,” said Smith. “I look forward to working closely with the Committee to deliver exceptional experiences that inspire our community and foster a lasting legacy for sports in the region."

Smith's appointment is effective immediately, and she will be actively involved in upcoming BAHC projects and initiatives designed to elevate the profile of sports in the Bay Area and engage the community in meaningful ways.

"Jess’s remarkable track record in the sports industry makes her an invaluable addition to our Board,” said BAHC President & CEO Zaileen Janmohamed. “Her passion for sports and community engagement aligns perfectly with our objectives. We are excited to have her on board and are confident that her contributions will significantly enhance our efforts to promote sports and unity in the Bay Area."

Smith joins an illustrious Board that also includes Board Chairperson Daniel Lurie, Board President Al Guido, Board Secretary Jared Shawlee, Board Treasurer Cipora Herman, Larry Baer, Jonathan Becher, Brandon Schneider, Ahmad Thomas and Aly Wagner.
